|Project:||186kW commercial Solar PV install|
|Client:||Abbey Group Ltd|
With electricity usage on site increasing and the Feed in Tariff set to be reduced, Abbey Group decided to invest in a larger system to meet the electricity demands on site and chose Princeenergy to help them design and install a suitable system.
The Abbey group is a family owned company based in Peterborough, with interests in agriculture, logistics, property and the renewables sector. They already had a 50kW system installed at their Whittlesey site and were very impressed with the performance and paybacks they were receiving.
The site has a restriction in place on export capacity so careful design was required to ensure the very best could be achieved from the system installed, by looking carefully at the roof space available and installing a system to the maximum size allowed we helped Abbey Group make the most of their install.
We installed 744 solar panels over two roof spaces, along with seven 25kW inverters. We also completed the connection of the solar supply into the mains and fitted a G59 relay panel and completed witness testing.
The project was subject to tight deadlines due to the impending tariff cuts for Solar PV, this was further exasperated with difficult weather conditions and the problems of working on a live site. Due to the nature of the work carried out in the building, access was a particular issue, erecting scaffolding was challenging as constant access was required to the site and the mains connection for the project had to be completed on a weekend night shift as power could not be off at any other time.
We worked closely with the client throughout to ensure minimal disruption to business operations and to meet the deadlines for the project.
