|Project:||Solar PV and ASHP installation|
Mark Asplin is a man who practices what he preaches as a set of solar panels and two heat pumps at his four bedroom home in the picturesque village of Maxey in Cambridgeshire proves.
Mark is a Director of the Princebuild Group whose sister company Princeenergy is leading the way in providing consultancy and installation services in the sustainable energy sector.
Since moving into his Maxey home with his wife Sarah, son George (and dog Ralph) he has transformed his home from being costly and inefficient to heat to slashing his energy bills by a third and being much greener into the process.
The house had storage heaters, which were far from ideal, so we decided to go down the solar panel route which we are very pleased with. Then we had an air sourced heat pump installed and most recent of all, after extending the house, we went for a second heat pump to supply heat to our sunroom with under floor heating and convector radiators throughout the rest of the extension.
"As a Director of Princebuild and Princeenergy I am in a pretty unique position when it comes to having installations such as this carried out but with the money saved on my energy bills, the ease of having heat pumps and the panels fitted and zero maintenance, I am a great advocate. Like everybody I also take great pleasure from saving some money along the way and being a bit greener into the bargain."
"I now get constant heat, loads of hot water and the system is clean, compact, quiet and efficient, " he said.
Princeenergy's technical manager, Darren Richardson said:"‘Mark had a 3 kW Solar PV installation installed by us in October 2011. We then installed a 14kW Daikin Air Source Heat Pump to replace their existing electric heating system, which by all accounts was very ineffective and extremely expensive to run. The new installation included a full wet central heating system with modern convector radiators and an unvented stainless steel hot water cylinder. "
"In June this year we completed an extension at Mark’s house which incorporated a new 8kW Daikin Air Source Heat Pump to supply heat . Each system is independently zoned with its own wireless room thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves, giving complete control and comfort to each area and room within the house."
